Our Ideals
We believe the urban traveller looks first for cleanliness and comfort, and we strive to maintain our apartments to our own high personal standards. The house itself was chosen with location and security in mind. Safety and durability are built into any ongoing upgrading.
Easy to Get To
Our house is located just a block away from the most convenient four lane access road (Sir John A Macdonald Blvd) linking directly to Highway 401. And if you arrive by train or bus, a short, inexpensive taxi ride will get you here quickly. Sailors can dock in the harbour and walk "home".
Unique location
Our home is unique because of its location. This is really an alternative to a cottage.
Portsmouth Village has preserved its own identity but is located close to downtown Kingston.
It has its own nucleus of attractions centred around Portsmouth
Olympic Harbour; where pleasure sailing and relaxed living reign
supreme. There are no hotels here. There are no blatant tourist
traps. You can easily choose to become an anonymous resident and
view Kingston life as a local. If, however, you want the tourist experience, the downtown core is just 5 minutes away by car or public transit. Portsmouth Village is also very convenient
to many of Kingston's institutions and major manufacturers.
Unusual city setting
Being close to downtown and just seconds from public transportation, you would expect lots of brick and concrete and noise. Instead, our own little street has the character of a country lane rising steeply from the harbour. Wooded areas behind the house make for a wonderfully secluded setting more like a sleepy village than a busy city. On your walking trips in this area you will notice a quiet contentment and friendly Villagers who welcome the very special quality of tourists that the harbour brings to Kingston.
What do you want to do?
Nearby Lake Ontario Park hosts incoming attractions throughout the summer. Queens University is nearby, including the West campus, Richardson stadium, and the research library just steps from the door. The harbour features sailing regattas. A quaint theatre lies just minutes away. St. Lawrence College and several museums are within walking distance. A wonderful waterfront jogging trail runs along the shore. One of the public bus routes takes you on a 2 hour round trip of the city.
Make no mistake about it, all of Kingston is great, but Portsmouth Village is something unique. We are sure that once you have spent a week here you will want to come back for a vacation every year, if not more often.
