The Royal Order of Karyenda - Grand Cross, breast badge (L) and sash badge (R).

The Royal Order of Karyenda (Ordre Royal du Karyenda): founded by King Mwambutsa IV on 1st July 1962 as the principal order of the kingdom, to recognise and reward pre-eminent services to the state, primarily in the civil and diplomatic fields. Awarded in five classes (1. Grand Cross, 2. Grand Officer, 3. Commander, 4. Officer, and 5. Knight). Obsolete.

The Order of Prince Rwagasore - Grand Cross, breast star (L) and sash badge (R).

The Royal Order of Prince Rwagasore (Ordre Royal du Prince Rwagasore): founded by King Mwambutsa IV on 1st July 1962 to commemorate the life and work of his son and heir and to recongise pre-eminent services to the state, especially in attaining independence, promoting national unity and safeguarding the integrity of the nation. Awarded in five classes (1. Grand Cross, 2. Grand Officer, 3. Commander, 4. Officer, and 5. Knight) and a medal in silver. Modified and retained by the Republic after 1966.

The Royal Order of Ruzinko - Grand Cross, breast badge (L) and sash badge (R).

The Royal Order of Ruzinko (Ordre Royal de Ruzinko): founded by King Mwambutsa IV on 1st July 1962 to recognise general meritorious services to the state and to the King, in all fields of endeavour. Awarded in five classes (1. Grand Cross, 2.Grand Officer, 3. Commander, 4. Officer, and 5. Knight). Obsolete.

The Royal Order of Ruzinko - Commander, neck badge obverse (L) and reverse (R).

The Military Order of Karyenda (Ordre Militaire du Karyenda): founded by King Mwambutsa IV on 1st July 1962 to recognise distinguished and meritorious services to the state, primarily in the military field, by officers and men of the Burundi army, the militia and gendarmerie. Awarded in three classes (1. Grand Cross, 2. Commander, and 3. Officer). Obsolete.

The MilitaryOrder of Karyenda - Grand Officer, breast badge (L) and Knight, chest badge (R).

King Mwambutsa Meritorious Service Medal: instituted by King Mwambutsa IV and awarded in three grades (1. gold, 2. silver and 3. bronze). Obsolete.

King Mwambutsa MSM - third grade in bronze, obverse (L) and reverse (R).

Prince Rwagasore Medal in silver.
