1837 - 1844 H.H. Nasir ud-Daula, Nawab Jahangir Muhammad Khan Bahadur, Shamsher Jang, Nawab of Dar ul-Iqbal-i-Bhopal. b. 1816, younger son of Mian Amir Muhammad Khan, by his second wife, Munawar Zaman Begum Sahiba, second daughter of Nawab Bakaru'llah Khan, Nawab of Basoda, educ. privately. Granted the title of Nawab Dulah Bahadur on his marriage, 18th April 1835. Invested as Nawab Dar ul-Iqbal-i-Bhopal together with the titles of Nasir ud-Daula and Shamsher Jang, at Islamnagar, 29th November 1837, when the throne was settled on him and his issue by Sikander Begum Sahiba. m. (first) at Islamnagar, 18th April 1835, H.H. Nawab Sikander Begum Sahiba, later Nawab Begum of Dar ul-Iqbal-i-Bhopal, GCSI (b. 10th September 1817; d. at Bhopal, 2nd November 1868), only daughter of H.H. Nasir ud-Daula, Nawab Nasir Muhammad Khan Bahadur, Nawab of Dar ul-Iqbal-i-Bhopal - see below. He d. at Fatehgarh, Bhopal, 9th December 1844 (bur. there at Nur Bagh), having had issue:

1860 - 1868 H.H. Nawab Sikander Begum Sahiba, Nawab Begum of Dar ul-Iqbal-i-Bhopal, GCSI (25.6.1861). b. at Gauhar Mahal, Bhopal, 10th September 1817, only daughter of H.H. Nasir ud-Daula, Nawab Nasir Muhammad Khan Bahadur, Nawab Regent of Dar ul-Iqbal-i-Bhopal, by his wife, H.H. Nawab Qudsia Begum Sahiba, CI, sometime Regent of Bhopal, eldest daughter of H.H. Nawab Ghaus Muhammad Khan Bahadur, Nawab of Dar ul-Iqbal-i-Bhopal, educ privately. Became Regent for her infant daughter, 3rd January 1847. Installed at Bhopal, 27th July 1847. Recognised as the sole ruler of Bhopal from 30th April 1860. Raised to a permanent salute of 19-guns, 1st November 1861. Granted a sanad confirming succession in accordance with Islamic laws, 11th March 1862. A ruler well ahead of her time, who eschewed purdah, and began a series of fundamental reforms and improvements. She reorganised her army, administration and revenue collection along modern lines, introduced a modern judicial system, established a nominated parliament to represent different groups, built railways, founded a hospital, built dispensaries and schools, installed water works, and lit the capital with gaslight. Scholars, poets and men of learning were encouraged to settle and to help expand education. She visited every village and hamlet in her domains during her reign, arranged for cheap agricultural loans for the peasantry, and established a forestry department to conserve the forests. m. at Islamnagar Fort, 18th April 1835, H.H. 1844-1860 and 1868-1901 H.H. Nawab Sultan Shah Jahan Begum Sahiba, Nawab Begum of Dar ul-Iqbal-i-Bhopal, GCSI (31.5.1872), CI (1.1.1878). b. at Islamnagar, 29th July 1838, only surviving child of H.H. Nawab Sikander Begum Sahiba, Nawab Begum of Dar ul-Iqbal-i-Bhopal, GCSI, by her husband, H.H. Nasir ud-Daula, Nawab Jahangir Muhammad Khan Bahadur, Shamsher Jang, Nawab of Dar ul-Iqbal-i-Bhopal, educ. privately. Proclaimed by the British authorities, as successor to her father, 11th April 1845. Reigned under the Regency of her mother, who was recognised as the sole ruler of Bhopal from 30th April 1860 until her death. Installed as Heir Apparent, 1st May 1860. She threw off purdah on the death of her husband in 1867. Finally succeeded on the death of her mother, 2nd November 1868, and installed at the Fort, Bhopal, 16th November 1868. Attended the Imperial Durbar at Delhi in 1877. Instrumental in beginning construction of Woking Mosque, in Surrey, the Taj ul-Masjid, the largest Mosque in India, and Aligarh Muslim University. An Urdu poet under the pen-name of 'Tajwar', and a Persian poet under the pen-name 'Shirin'. Author of "mathnawi Saddiq ul-Bayan", "Taj ul-Kalam", "Tehzib un-nissa", "Taj ul-Iqbal", "Diwan-i- Shirin", "Khazinat ul-Laghat", "Loghat Shah Jahani", etc. Rcvd: KIH gold medal (1877), Diamond Jubilee medal (1897), and the Order of Nobility (Nishan-i-Majidi) 1st class in brilliants of Turkey (1892). m. (first) at Bhopal, 26th July 1855, as his third wife, General H.H. Nasir ud-Daula, Nawab Baqi Muhammad Khan Bahadur, Umrao Dulha, Nusrat Jang (b. 1823; d. at Bhopal, 16th July 1867, bur. Nishat Afza, Bhopal), granted the titles of Nazir ud-Daula, Khan Bahadur, Nawab and Umrao Dulha together with a personal salute of 17-guns 1856, C-in-C Bhopal State Forces 1850-1855, served in Indian Mutiny, younger son of General Sardar Bahadur Muhammad Khan, sometime C-in-C Bhopal state forces. m. (second) at Shaukat Mahal, Bhopal, 8th May 1871, as his second wife, H.H. Wala Jah, Amir ul-Mulk, Nawab Sayyid 'Abu'l-Taiyib Muhammad Saddiq Hasan Khan Bahadur [Mir Dabir], Nawab Consort of Bhopal (b. at Bareilly, 14th October 1832; d. at the Taj Mahal, Shahjahanbad, 20th January 1890, leaving issue by several wives), Supt. of Education, Private Sec. to the Begum, 1868-1871, granted the titles of Wallah Jah, Amir ul-Mulk, Bahadur, and Nawab together with a personal salute of 17-guns 15th October 1872, Assist. Minister and Mutamid ul-Moham 1871-1874, Chief Minister 1874-1884, deprived of his titles and dismissed from all his official posts by order of the Viceroy 1884 (restored posthumously), younger son of Sayyid Aulad Hassan Khan, of Kanauj, by his wife, Bibi Najib un-nisa, daughter of Mufti Muhammad 'Awd. She d. at the Taj Mahal, Shahjahanbad, Bhopal, 16th June1901 (bur. Nishat Afza Bagh), having had issue, two daughters:
