Mawng Lat, "Tsatkyawaddi Min".
b. March 1852 (s/o the
"Hleine" Prince, by Me Eepu,
Kempoo of Hanthawadi who d. 1860),
educ. privately. Supposedly
smuggled out of the palace by his mother,
following the death of the Prince of
Hlaing, then hidden at Pangoon-yah, near
Thyetmo. He rebelled in 1872, was
captured by the British and deported to
Aden in 1873, where he tried to commit
suicide, then removed to India in 1875,
and allowed to return to Burma in 1928.
Baptized at Cannanore, India, as John
William Moong Lat on 31st
March 1878. m. at St John's
Church, Cannanore, Madras Presidency, 29th
April 1878, Evalina Augusta, daughter of
Thomas William Godfrey, by his wife,
Henrietta. He d. at East Lynne,
Insein, Burma, 29th January
1936 (bur. there at Kemedine
Cemetery), having had issue, four sons
and four daughters:
